Celebration on March 14 Medicine Day

March 14 marks a significant milestone in Turkish medical history. On this day in 1827, Türkiye’s first modern medical school, Tıphane-i Amire and Cerrahhane-i Amire, was established in Şehzadebaşı, Istanbul, laying the foundation for structured medical education. Over time, this day has evolved into a celebration of the dedication and contributions of healthcare professionals.

March 14 also symbolizes resilience. 1919, as Istanbul faced occupation, medical students, led by Hikmet Boran, gathered to protest foreign forces, turning Turkish Medicine Day into a national resistance movement. Since then, this day has become a tribute not only to the dedication of healthcare professionals but also to those who stand for the well-being of society.

On this occasion, the Society of Turkish American Physicians honors all physicians, healthcare professionals, and medical students who devote their lives to the well-being of others. We extend our sincere gratitude for your dedication and hard work. Your efforts inspire future generations!
